Love Your Leftovers

We've recently discovered that UK households throw away up to a whopping £1.56 billion worth of food each year, with many of us blaming a lack of recipes to make the most of our leftovers. A nationwide survey that we've conducted shows that almost two thirds of us admit to wasting food by letting it go out of date before we can use it, while a third of us admit throwing leftovers from other meals straight into the bin.

The top three foods ending up in the bin include salad (53%), vegetables (43%) and dairy (29%) with most of us blaming our food wastage on forgetting what’s in the fridge. The figures also reveal that a whopping 67 per cent of us Brits don't plan our meals in advance. We want to help put an end to unloved leftovers across the UK.

So, to help Brits become a nation of leftover-lovers, Lec has partnered with much-loved British chef Brian Turner to create a selection of recipes to help families make the most of their leftovers, such as Cottage Pie, Broccoli and Chicken Stir Fry and Bread and Butter Pudding. You can find the recipes here.
