The Competition

To celebrate Lec's 70th birthday this year, we teamed up with artisan ice cream producers Simply Ice Cream and asked for your help to create a brand new and unique ice cream flavour. We asked you to choose from 24 million possible flavour combinations of 70 flavours including everything from creme brulee to grass and coffee to Guinness! Hundreds of you submitted your weird and wonderful #LecIceCream flavour creations via Pinterest, and ten delicious flavour made the shortlist:

• 70's Retro created by Lisa Pope, including Crème Brulee, Chocolate Chunks, Cherry and Black Forest Gateau

• Bit of Ginge created by Helen Kenyon, including Cornflakes, Chocolate, Ginger and Marmalade

• The DeLECtable Ice created by Diana Cotter, including Meringue, Creme Brulee, Strawberry and White Chocolate Chunks

• Caramel Fudge Cookie Delight created by Leigh Fenn, including Fudge, Sea-Salted Caramel, Cookie and Cheesecake

• Home Baked created by David Fuentes, including Chocolate Chunks, Apple Pie, Brown Bread and Banana

• CocoCherryFudgetastic created by Olivia Kirby, including Fudge, Cherry, Coconut and White Chocolate Chunks

• Winter Apple Dessert created by Elaine Kidd, including Custard, Ginger, Apple Pie and Caramel Swirl

• Luxurious Caramel Coffee Surprise created by Chevaune Stanley, including Fudge, Caramel Swirl, Coffee and Marshmallows

• Eton Mess created by Michelle Peterson, including Meringue, Raspberry, White Chocolate Chunks and Turkish Delight

The Winner

Over 400 votes were received to choose the winner... CocoCherryFudgetastic created by Olivia Kirby! A delicious blend of Fudge, Cherry, Coconut and White Chocolate Chunks, Olivia's creation is currently being developed by Simply Ice Cream and will be given out to 20,000 people at the BBC Good Food Show Winter 2012.
