It is not unusual to hear noises from cooling appliances, especially when the appliance is switching on or off. Normal operating noises can also be caused by:
1. The compressor (motor) may hum whilst in operation.
2. On integrated appliances a fan may continually run to circulate air between the rear of the appliance and the cabinet.
3. Bubbling, gurgling or whirring noises may be heard as the refrigerant circulates.
4. Clicking will be heard as the thermostat turns the compressor on and off.
5. Cracking may be heard when the auto-defrost is operating or when the appliance is cooling down or warming up.
6. A frost-free freezer may emit a low hissing sound as the air circulates around the compartment.
If possible, also check:
1. The appliance is level.
2. It is not touching any other appliances, furniture or walls.
3. If any of the drawers, basket or shelves are loose which could be vibrating.
4. If anything stored in the fridge or freezer is rattling against each other, such as bottles or containers.
