Our heritage
In 1942 fishmongers Charles and Frank Purley, fed up with the high cost of
ice, developed a refrigeration system to keep their fresh fish chilled. And so
Lec was born.
The brand quickly became a firm favourite and today, over 60 years later, Lec is
still the refrigeration appliance brand of choice in many UK households. In 2005
Lec became part of Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, owner of Stoves, Belling and New
World cooking brands and with a reputation for quality and reliability that is
unrivalled. The Lec tradition continues with the support of the largest producer
and supplier of kitchen appliances in the UK.
Our products
At Lec we have developed a range of products offering style,
functionality, choice and, importantly in today’s world, energy

experience, we understand what is needed from cooling products and have built our

family home, compact designs for smaller properties, or style and elegance for
the modern apartment, there’s a Lec product for you.

Our future
Even with over 60 years of heritage we understand there’s no time to
rest on our laurels. Like today’s consumers Lec is an environmentally
conscious brand and the future for us is all about energy efficiency.
2010 saw the launch of 11 fantastic new products that really set the standard in
energy saving – the A+ energy rated range which uses up to 60% less
energy*. Our A+ energy rating is so impressive that the Energy Savings Trust
(EST) is actively recommending the entire range. This noticeable accolade is
something we are very proud to hold.
The EST is a UK-based organisation focused on promoting action that reduces the
UK’s carbon footprint.For more information visit www.energysavingstrust.org.uk
